Robin Hauck, editor of a Boston based blog called Misstropolis, was visiting the SoWa galleries looking for something to cheer her up from these chaotic times when fortunately she entered Soprafina Gallery and was immediately attracted by my paintings in the show. She has written a great article (link) about my work and my exhibition at Soprafina. Misstropolis covers art, culture and ideas, often, but not always with ties to Boston. They look for stories about women doing extraordinary work which comments uniquely on our current experience. I think it is an excellent blog and I've become a subscriber myself. I am excited to let you know that my new solo show is opening on June 13th at The Obsession of Art (link). I am exhibiting works that I have painted during the last 6 months and the title of the show, "Love to live", is a great description of their spirit!
During these sad months of confinement I have felt a continuous swing of emotions, many of them negative. But one of them has always prevailed, optimism, thinking that one day all this will pass and we will come out of this horror. My painting “Reunion” arises from this need to look for the good side of things and reflects my desire to embrace loved ones again soon.
This painting is already in the Netherlands and can be seen at The Obsession of Art (link), in Bergen (North Holland).
I am starting the year by collaborating with Dutch Gallery The Obsession of Art (link), in Bergen (North Holland). Since 1994 this gallery represents a select group of international artists, showing their work at the gallery and also participating in several art fairs along the year. This month of January they have put together a great selection of works for the Naarden Art Fair (link), January 23-26, Grote Kerk.
This is a short video in which I talk about my work process and where I find my inspiration. It was filmed in my studio in December 2019 and also on a rooftop in Madrid. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks to Pablo Ferrán, for everything.
This summer my first exhibition at the Napa valley location of Caldwell Snyder Gallery (link) took place. The gallery occupies a gorgeous building in downtown St. Helena, and I was very happy that I was able to attend the opening, taste the rich wines that a local winery offered us, and greet many of the visitors that came to see the exhibition in person. It was altogether a very joyful and interesting experience.
From July 13 to August 10. Caldwell Snyder Gallery (link), ST. Helena.
